Recently, in Binh Duong, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) cooperated with B.I.F.A Trading and Service Joint Stock Company (B.I.F.A JSC) and Pablo Publishing & Exhibition to successfully organize a Press Conference with the theme “New breakthrough trends for the wood and furniture industry”, to share information about the bright “picture” of Vietnam’s wood export market as well as the 5th International Exhibition on Smart Furniture Solutions – Smart Furniture Solutions Vietnam 2024 (SFS Vietnam 2024) which will officially take place at the end of this November.

In the context of the current Industrial Revolution 5.0 era, the application of new technology in the production process is the most urgent and effective solution to help wood industry enterprises solve the remaining challenges and difficulties. Therefore, the SFS VIETNAM 2024 Exhibition was born with the mission of promoting trade as well as contributing to the development of the Vietnamese wood industry in general and Binh Duong province in particular.

The Press Conference with the theme “New breakthrough trends for the wood and furniture industry” and the introduction of the International Exhibition on Smart Furniture Solutions – SFS Vietnam 2024 attracted the participation of a large number of journalists.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnam’s wood and forestry product export value is estimated at 12.15 billion USD, up 17.2% over the same period, an average of nearly 1.4 billion USD per month, an impressive growth rate compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, wood products reached 7.84 billion USD, up 20.7%; raw wood brought in 3.533 billion USD, up 13.1%; non-timber forest products also contributed 777 million USD, up 3.9%. Currently, Vietnam has risen to 5th place in the world in total wood export turnover and 2nd place in the world (after China) in the group of high value-added wooden products such as indoor and outdoor wooden furniture.

As for Binh Duong province in particular, the whole province currently has more than 1,200 wood processing and exporting enterprises, of which more than 300 are foreign-invested enterprises (FDI). According to statistics over the past 9 months, the wood processing industry is also the main export industry of Binh Duong province, accounting for the largest export proportion in the province with the main markets being: the US accounting for 83.3%, up 28.4% over the same period; European countries accounting for 4.3%, up 25.1%; Canada accounting for 2.3%, up 20.7%; South Korea accounting for 1.8%, up 13.7%, … Positive signals from Binh Duong’s wood industry are considered the “locomotive” pulling the wood industry of the whole country into the group of industries with rapid growth.
