Representatives of the organizing committee and leaders of Binh Duong province took souvenir photos at the press conference to introduce the exhibition.
According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam currently ranks fifth in the world in total wood export turnover and second in the world (after China) in the group of high value-added wooden products (indoor and outdoor wooden furniture). In the first 9 months of this year, the export value of wood and forestry products of Vietnam is estimated at 12.15 billion USD, up 17.2% over the same period last year. Vietnam’s wood products have reached 170 world markets. Of which, the 5 major markets are the US, Japan, China, Korea and the EU – accounting for more than 90% of total wood export turnover.
In Binh Duong alone, in the first 10 months of the year, the export turnover of the wood processing industry is estimated at 5.4 billion USD, up 24% over the same period, accounting for 19% of the province’s total export turnover. The information was shared by Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade at the press conference introducing SFS on November 11.
Currently, Binh Duong province has more than 1,200 wood processing and exporting enterprises, of which more than 300 are foreign-invested enterprises (FDI). The wood processing industry is also the province’s main export industry, accounting for the largest proportion of exports in the province. The US is the main market for Binh Duong’s wood exports, accounting for 83.3% of the export proportion. Mr. Thi expects that the Binh Duong wood industry in particular and Vietnam in general will benefit more after Mr. Donald Trump takes office as US President next year.
According to the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Duong province, in order for the wood industry to continue to develop and overcome new challenges, one of the activities that needs attention is to promote foreign trade, support businesses to connect with trade, expand markets, and sign new export orders outside of traditional markets. That is also the reason why the 5th SFS Vietnam was held at WTC EXPO Binh Duong.
Representatives of the organizing committee and leaders of Binh Duong province answered media questions at the press conference.
Sharing at the press conference, the organizers said that after two months of launching, the exhibition had 250 registered booths, occupying 10,000 m2 out of the total area of 12,000 m2 of the WTC EXPO Binh Duong project. In addition to wood industry enterprises, the exhibition also attracted many enterprises operating in the fields of auxiliary equipment for the wood industry such as air blowing systems, dust extraction, drying ovens, or other interior enterprises such as ceramics.
In particular, with the desire to reflect the development trend of smart furniture in the world, the exhibition has many booths about smart furniture. Here, visitors can witness and experience foldable, multi-functional furniture, suitable for modern living spaces, or furniture that applies IoT technology and can be controlled via smartphone.
Within the framework of the exhibition, there will also be a specialized workshop with the theme “Application of smart processes using Alphacam and Cabinet Vision software” on November 28. Alphacam and Cabinet Vision are considered to be software with diverse and flexible applications in many different fields, especially interior with products such as main doors, windows, cabinets, stairs, and flat sculptures. This software currently has more than 35,000 users in 52 countries, and is available in 13 languages. At the exhibition, this software will be introduced in smart panel wood production and smart solid wood production.
Providing a lot of useful information for the wood industry, the exhibition is expected to welcome about 10,000 visitors. Ms. Duong Thi Tu Trinh, General Director of B.I.F.A JSC, said that SFS Vietnam has many differences to attract visitors compared to other interior exhibitions. According to her, the biggest highlight of the exhibition is the introduction of products that harmonize modern technology and creative design – which are both smart furniture and help make the house more beautiful. In addition, the exhibition also has many activities such as seminars and demonstrations by the Lean Manufacturing Club of the Binh Duong Wood Processing Association. Throughout the exhibition days, minigames will take place, with the highest prize worth up to 9,000 USD.
Ms. Trinh also emphasized that the exhibition seeks to create many ways for investors to meet and connect. Therefore, the organizers have promoted information about the exhibition to many countries around the world, not only in Vietnam and Binh Duong.
